On April 27, 2023, the jury found that Dr. Karrasch did not breach the standard of care in Davis v. Central Valley Medical Center, et al, Case No. 200600002, Juab County, Utah, Judge Anthony Howell. 

Plaintiff alleged that he suffered permanent neve damage, lower extremity weakness, and paralysis resulting from Dr. Karrasch's negligent performance of "a diagnostic arthroscopy of the left knee which ultimately included an arthroscopic fat pad excision and a left knee arthroscopic assisted reduction and suture fixation of a comminuted tibial spine avulsion fracture." The surgery was planned for one-and-a-half or two hours. Due to complications including a broken spectrum suture passer, the surgery went on for approximately six hours. 

Plaintiff's experts were: Matthew Bollier, M.D. (orthopedic surgery), Colleen A. Fiammengo, RN MSN CNOR CCM (perioperative nurse), and Tyler Bowles (economist). 

Defendants' experts were: Davina Leary, RN, CCM (Nursing), Philip A. Davidson, M.D. (orthopedic surgery), Travis Felix, DPT (physical therapy), Mark Hedrick, MS, CRC, LVRC (vocational rehab), and Brad Townsend, MBA, CPA/ABV/CFF (economist).
